Shannon L. Deitch - Counselor

My name is Shannon L. Deitch. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and Registered Play therapist, who enjoys working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. I have a variety of experience and training with a specific focus on working with children and adolescents. I began working with children as a Special Education Teacher for Alvin ISD in 2003. In 2008, I began counseling Jr. High students in Alvin ISD where I remained until June of 2017. I have also provided group therapy for a community health facility and have experience working in the Houston Area Women’s Shelter with extensive training in trauma. I like to stay involved with the community and volunteer to teach Sunday School for my church.

My primary goal is to equip children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families with the tools they need to be successful with their families, school, and future. I work from a person-centered theoretical framework and draw on many different techniques in order to help prepare clients with the tools they need. My practice focuses on a wide age range in clients and different techniques are used for different age ranges. Play therapy is the main therapeutic intervention for children ages 3-12 years of age. Play techniques are coupled with cognitive behavioral therapy for ages 12-18. A variety of techniques are used when working with adults. Some of the techniques that I incorporate in my practice include but are not limited to cognitive behavioral techniques, psychoeducation, bibliotherapy, sand tray therapy, traditional talk therapy, and play therapy.

As a Licensed Professional-Supervisor I am able to provide supervision services to LPC-Interns working towards full licensure. Please contact me for more information regarding supervision.
