Downtown Counseling Services

Individual, Family, Group, Couples, and Play Therapy

The counseling process can help one achieve a sense of renewed purpose and improved ability to deal with life's challenges. Some challenges or tragedies in life may leave us feeling depressed or anxious. Transitions in life, parenting, or work issues may bring about more stress than we think we can handle. Counseling can help resolve confusion and the sense of feeling stuck.

Downtown Counseling Services provides children, teens, adults, and seniors with responsible and productive counseling/therapy services in a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment. We are counselors/therapists dedicated to helping our clients gain the tools and strengths needed to deal with the various challenges encountered in life.

The counseling process may involve exploring and healing of past wounds, and learning new skills or methods of coping with familiar or new situations. When needed, we also work closely with psychologists and psychiatrists who may provide additional interventions or medication management.

Our goal in providing counseling services is to help all who enter our doors live a more productive, happy, and successful life by objectively examining behaviors, feelings, and thoughts and learning new ways of responding to situations. Please find some common issues treated by various counselors at Downtown Counseling Services below. Check each counselor’s individual page for more specific information about their unique counseling services and areas of specialty.

Child-Parent Relationship (CPR) Training

CPRT is a 10-session, evidence-based program that helps parents build stronger relationships with their children. If you are a parent with a child between the ages of 9 and 13, you may qualify to participate in this research study examining the effects of Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) on parental stress, preadolescent behavior problems, and the parent-child relationship. This research study will be conducted in an online, virtual format. By participating in this study, you receive the 10-session CPRT program for FREE!

For more information, please contact the Center for Play Therapy at 940-565-3864 or Sarah Agarwal at [email protected] and ask about the CPRT research study.
